With desert, mountains, sea, mosques, and fascinating people, all providing winning subjects, everyone can be a successful photographer in Ras Al Khaimah. You can find simple digital cameras of various brands, but more advance equipment is just not widely available. Before going to Dubai or other emirates check Carrefour Supermarket, Al Falak Electronics in Al Hamra Mall or search the web for good offers. You can buy disposable water cameras in Carrefour Supermarket in case you want to take shots of underwater wildlife. You should not have difficulties buying batteries and memory cards. Most of the internet cafes can also burn your photos onto CDs.
Labs process most types of films and can also print digital photos; however, the quality is often not up to standard. It is always a good idea to print one photo first, before you end up with 100 bad quality photos. The price for photo printing varies, but you should expect to pay at least 1dhs for a small size photo (10x13mm) and from 10dhs up to 30dhs for an A4 format. The price does not necessarily reflect the quality.
People are good photo subjects, but you should always ask first for their permission, especially if you intend to photograph a woman. If they say no, choose another subject.
Light levels and intensity can be different than what you might be used to, therefore use low ISO number and consider filters. The best results can be achieved when shooting in the early morning or late afternoon.
