Picnics and camping trips are fantastic leisure activities loved by both nationals and expatriates, especially in the winter time. After a long, hot summer everyone craves for a fresh breeze and a relaxing time outside.
Corniche Road’s promenade, Saqr Park and beaches are very popular spots for a picnic. These places, however, can be quite crowded especially on the weekends. Desert and mountains are the most private and relaxing places for camping trips and picnics.
If you wish to make a campfire you can purchase wood at the fruit and vegetable market located under the bridge, but do not use wood that you find in nature. Everything else that you may need for a picnic or camping trip can be purchased at Carrefour or in other supermarkets. EQUIPMENT FOR CAMPING: water for drinking and washing, wood, charcoal, First Aid kit, lighter or matches, knife, torch, basic tool kit, tent, sleeping bag, foam mattress, rubbish bags, pan, crockery, cutlery, tissues, cool box with ice-blocks, food and drinks and the essential equipment for off-road driving.
