CLIMATE IN RAS AL KHAIMAH
The Ras Al Khaimah climate is hot and arid. In the summer months, from June until September, the weather is extremely hot, with temperatures often reaching up to 50oC (122oF) and the humidity level going as high as 80 or even 90%. Winter, starting around November and ending in March, brings superb conditions with sunny days and low humidity. Temperatures average between 18oC and 25oC (64.4oF and 86oF) in the daytime, and between 8oC and 20oC (46.4oF and 68oF) at night. Rainfall occurs mainly in winter months. Generally, it rains only a few days a year and usually rainwater does not exceed 100mm per annum. Sunny, blue skies can be expected most days. Thunderstorms occur occasionally and sand storms are common, especially when the weather is about to change.
UAE waters are also very warm. Average sea surface temperatures (SST) of the Persian Gulf coast vary from 18oC in the winter to 35oC in the summer.
Since the weather records began, the high mountain of Jabel Jais, which belongs to Ras Al Khaimah, has twice experianced snow in 2004 and 2009. However, snow was never seen in the lower parts of the mountains.
The best time to visit Ras Al Khaimah is during winter and mid-season months. The weather is excellent, warm, sunny and generally pleasant. If you are interested in outdoor activities, summer should be avoided. It is difficult to stay outside, the sand on the beach can burn your feet and the wind brings no chill. Many residents try to leave Ras Al Khaimah in those months. However, it is a great time for those who really love the sun and for indoor activities like shopping.

WHAT TO WEAR
When packing a suitcase, a visitor to Ras Al Khaimah should remember that light, moderate clothing, sunglasses, a hat and sunscreen are essential at any time of the year. Sweaters or jackets may also be needed all year round. Nights in the winter can be chilly, especially if you plan to camp in the desert or in the mountains. In the hottest months, all shopping malls, cinemas and restaurants seriously cool down their spaces with air conditioning.
Visitors should keep in mind that although the dress code in the UAE is quite relaxed, wearing revealing clothing might be offensive to the local people. Short skirts, tight clothing and sleeveless shirts may bring unwanted attention. It is acceptable to wear swimsuits and bikinis at hotel pools and beaches but not on public beaches.
