3rd RAK Terry Fox Run - Working Together to Outrun Cancer

Under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah and member of the UAE Supreme Council, YOU are invited to the third annual RAK Terry Fox Run.

WHEN: Friday, March 2nd, 2012

TIME: Registration opens 7:30am / Run starts at 9:00am

LOCATION: RAK Corniche Rd, opposite Safeer Market

WHO: families, adults and children; the whole community is welcome!

OBJECTIVE

All money raised will be donated to the UAE University Hospital in Al Ain, where a number of ongoing and impressive cancer research projects are being conducted. You can see a list of the recently approved cancer research projects, here.

THE RUN

A 5km distance run, aimed at runners and joggers; and a 3km distance walk for adults, children and families. Skateboard, rollerblade, baby stroller are also allowed, but no bicycles and no pets.

SCHEDULE

7.45am - RAK Police Band playing

8am - 8.30am arriving of special guests

8.20 - Warm up exercising

8.30am - H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi arriving

8.35am - Police Band playing the National Anthem

8.40am - Speaches by HE Kris Panday, Professor Branicki

9am - starting of the run

9am - local band playing untill the end of the event

TERRY FOX

Terry Fox was a young Canadian amputee who attempted to run across Canada in 1980 to raise awareness of the need for more money, and effort to be given, to cancer research. Sadly, Terry’s bone cancer returned during his run and he died shortly after at the age of 22. His dream to further cancer research, however, lives on and Terry Fox Runs are held around the world every year to bring communities together to raise money for cancer research. www.terryfoxrun.org

RAISING SPONSORSHIP FUNDS

The RAK Terry Fox Run Organizing Committee invites you, your colleagues, students and friends to join in raising sponsorship funds and to participate in the 3rd RAK Terry Fox Run on Friday 2nd March. Funds are raised either through direct donations or by individual pledge sheets, available HERE. All sponsorship forms will be collected on the morning of the run and will be exchanged for a wristband to allow participation in the chosen distance.

A presentation on Terry Fox and his Foundation can be arranged with our committee if you would like us to meet your students or colleagues.

RAK Terry Fox Run T-shirts are for sale at the price of AED 25 Adult and AED 20 Kids.

The T-shirts are available in all sizes: Adults - S, M, L, XL and Kids – S, M, L

You can pre-order T-shirts if you require more pieces or buy them in the morning of the race or at the RAK Terry Fox Run stand during the RAK Half Marathon on 18^th of February.
