The exact number of insect species present in Ras Al Khaimah and the UAE is unknown at the present, but this group is largely composed by ants, wasps, beetles, flies, mosquitoes and bees. There are also many examples of butterflies, dragonflies, grasshoppers and praying mantises. Commonly despised cockroaches can also be placed on the UAE insects list.
