Fujairah

Fujairah is the main emirate on the East Coast of the UAE. It has more than 90km of coastline and provides access to the magnificent Hajar Mountains. Excellent diving conditions with rich marine wildlife and many cultural and historic sites are other noteworthy assets of this emirate. Agriculture and fishing are still significant occupations, but presently tourism and business facilities have become the major focus of investments. Fujairah City, the capital of this emirate, is a modern city with growing business activities. It also serves as a very significant port. Huge bunkers containing the UAE’s precious export product, the oil, can be found here. Fujairah has been an independent emirate since 1952. Before that time, it was part of the sheikdom of Sharjah.
