Umm Al Quwain

 

Umm Al Quwain is the second smallest emirate of the UAE, and it is situated next to Ras Al Khaimah. Umm Al Quwain City lies on a narrow peninsula, while Fallaj Al Moalla, the second largest town of the emirate, lies inland, surrounded by the desert. Even though the city of Umm Al Quwain is growing, traditional values and occupations like fishing and dhow building are still present.

 

Dreamland Aqua Park

This is a large water park with numerous rides and slides. The park also has a go-kart circuit, small pet land and fields to enjoy other sports. 

 

Emirates Motorplex

This motor racing club was opened in 1999, and since then it has been a popular place for all kinds of races. By joining the club, you can become an active participant of organized events, or even take part in one of the competitions.

 

Umm Al Quwain Fort and Museum

The fort was once home to the ruling family and later housed police headquarters. Nowadays, it hosts the UAQ museum where visitors can see a traditional kitchen, storerooms and beautifully decorated majlis or sitting room. 

 

Khor Al Beidah and Sinaiya Island

Khor Al Beidah and Sinaiya Island compose an extensive coastal natural area that is home to many indigenous and migrating birds. The huge colony of Socotra Cormorant is one of the largest in the world. The Arabian Gazelle, which was introduced to the island, adapted very well to this undisturbed natural area. To visit this area, hire a boat at the Marina Club or take part in one of the trips organized by the Umm Al Quwain Tourists Centre situated at the end of Corniche Road. 

 

UAQ Aero Club

This is the only skydiving centre in the region. You can attend a full course or just make a skydive accompanied by a professional instructor. Additionally, the club also organizes pilot training for those interested.

 

Tell Abraq

Location: border with Sharjah

Tell Abraq is a site of a large settlement with signs of a fortification tower and a circular tomb, both dated back to late Umm an-Nar Period (2600-2000BC). There are also remains of other constructions where artefacts from the subsequent periods were discovered. It is certain that the site was continuously occupied from around 2200 BC to 300BC.
