RAS AL KHAIMAH WELFARE CENTRE
From March 2010, Ras Al Khaimah has its own RAK Animal Welfare Centre. The centre is organized by an expat lady and a group of volunteers, and supported by the local government. Its aim is to take care of unwanted, stray and abused animals; provide medical treatment for them; educate the public about animals; and to find suitable homes for those abandoned cats and dogs. Lost or Found If you find or lose a pet, or are searching for a new pet you can check the veterinary clinic sites as they often have lost/found sections. UAE LAW
Federal Law no.16 from the year 2007 was created to protect animals from abuse and negligence. It states that inadequate diet or undernourishment, unsafe transportation, as well as other forms of mistreatment (scientific experiments, cruelty, sexual abuse) are punishable by law. Animals if required should receive medical attention. Abandonment of animal, especially if infected is also against the law.
According to the law, the owners of abandoned or neglected animals will receive written instructions about animal welfare and will be required to pledge that the negligence will never reoccur. However, if the situation continues the owner will be penalized and will be held responsible for all expenses (veterinary bills, transportation, etc). Penalty for violating animal rights include imprisonment with a maximum duration of one year, and a fine of maximum 20,000dhs.

There are also similar to RAKAWC organisations run by volunteers in Dubai and Sharjah, which you can contact if you want to adopt an unwanted pet, become a foster family, or just to help them.
