NEW VEHICLE
Buying a new car in Ras Al Khaimah is probably the best option, since cars are usually cheaper in the UAE than in most other countries. It will also spare you the hassle of finding an old one, and in case of needed repairs, looking for parts and arranging servicing. There is a variety of car brands available, and most dealers sell standard passenger cars and popular 4WDs. A 4WD is the only option if you plan on visiting mountains or the desert, and additionally it may make you feel less vulnerable on the roads. Often there is a limited choice for the buyer as far as the colour or special features go, unless you are willing to wait for a specific order. This, however, can take up to a few months and your preferences are usually not guaranteed.

Finance If you are short of cash but you want to purchase a new car, a bank loan is a good option. Most banks offer a car loan for which they require a regular salary, residence visa, and at least 3 months worth of bank statements. When you apply for a car loan, you have to remember that the car is officially owned by the bank, and until all your payments are completed, you cannot sell it. Another loan option is a personal credit, which means that you will own the car, but keep in mind that the interest rate on a personal credit loan is much higher.
SECOND HAND VEHICLE
Second hand cars can be purchased from one of the numerous showrooms that are mainly situated along Oman Road, Al Muntasir Road and Al Mataf Road. Other used car dealerships are spread around the city. It is impossible to recommend any of the dealers; you just simply need to look around. Inspect the car properly and remember that often prices are negotiable.
Since the rotation of expatriates is quite high, you can also ask around if someone wants to sell their car. This way you have a chance to purchase a second hand car from the owner, thus, from a known source. Moreover, visit auto dealers’ websites and check local newspapers for more specific vehicles or better deals available, also in other emirates.

IMPORTING A VEHICLE
You can import your private vehicle from your country of origin. However, considering the relatively low price of vehicles in Ras Al Khaimah, and high costs of transportation, this is not a very popular option. Probably, it is only worth to do this if your car is unique or has a special value. Since each country has different regulations regarding export, you will have to contact your embassy to obtain the necessary information.
SELLING A VEHICLE
To sell your car, you may want to use the same channels as when purchasing one. Therefore, you can contact car dealers, place advertisements in local newspapers or on the Internet, and inform other residents.
EXPORTING A VEHICLE
Considering the lower costs of vehicles in the UAE and the right to relocate your belongings tax-free, exporting a car is a tempting option. While thinking about that, take into account the costs of transportation and administration. Additionally, be aware of the possible modifications in case your car does not meet the conditions required at your destination country. Moreover, remember that popular large cars use plenty of fuel, they may increase your monthly spending considerably, especially if you move to a country where petrol prices are significantly higher (pretty much everywhere else).
