Football is definitely the number one sport in Ras Al Khaimah, although you will find more spectators than participants amongst Emiratis and expatriates. Big screens showing football matches can be found at cafés and shisha places around the city, where people gather to cheer on their teams. Celebrations after the favourite team has won can be heard until late. The euphoria reached its peak after the UAE team won the Middle East Championship in 2007 and the country rejoiced for a number of days.
On 19th of April 2010, the Emirates Club from Ras Al Khaimah won the President’s Cup, an annual UAE football cup. In this final match held at the Zayed Sport City Stadium, the Emirates Club scored a 3-1 victory over Al Shabab, a Dubai based football club.
There are several football stadiums in Ras Al Khaimah. Usually matches are played on weekend afternoons in the cooler months. You can call the RAK Sport Club or one of the other football clubs in Ras Al Khaimah (listed below) to enquire more details.
For amateurs, small football fields can be found in most neighbourhoods, and children often spend their evenings playing football.

KIDS COACHING
