When applying for visit visa you have to expect to pay additional costs of 25dhs for an application form and 150dhs charge if visa is arranged via free zone. You will also have to purchase insurance and place a deposit.
OBLIGATORY INSURANCE Starting from 29th July 2008, visitors to the UAE are required to purchase health insurance for the entire period of their visit. Only visitors from the below-mentioned privileged countries* and those who already have international health insurance are exempt from this rule. The National Health Insurance Company, together with other local insurance companies, offers three schemes valid for 30, 60 and 90 days at premiums of 40dhs, 70dhs and 90dhs respectively. A policy would cover possible accidents and emergencies during the visitor’s stay in the country with an upper limit of 100,000dhs. This does not include child delivery and dental care. A policy must be purchased when applying for a visit visa at the RAK Naturalization and Residency Department, or obtained before entering the country from companies operating in the UAE or abroad.
1000dhs DEPOSIT A refundable deposit of 1,000dhs is mandatory for all pre-arranged visas and must be paid at the RAK Naturalization and Residency Department when submitting a visa application. Citizens of the below-mentioned countries* are not subjected to the deposit. This deposit may also be waived for certain nationalities in the future. In order to get a refund of the deposit, the sponsor has to apply for the refund within 90 days after the sponsored person has left the UAE. In order to regain the deposit-money, a fee of 110dhs must be paid, of which 100dhs includes charges for visa cancellation and 10dhs for a refund cheque issued by the banks.
VISA DELIVER SERVICE AT THE AIRPORT All visit visas (apart from the ones who are obtainable on arrival) need to be delivered to the visitors before they go through the UAE immigration check. Sponsors, therefore, can send the visa to the visitors via courier companies or use a visa delivery service at the airports. This service costs 10dhs, and visa needs to be delivered at least three hours before the visitor arrives.
